Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship

Deadline: February 20, 2015

Award Amount: $7000

Eligibility: 

  • Currently a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate accounting program preparing for a career in state and local government finance and expecting to be enrolled in the 2015 spring semester (including spring 2015 graduates). Undergraduate students must be in the process of completing at least their junior year by the time the scholarship is awarded. 
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada 
  • Recommendation by your academic advisor or the accounting program chair
  • Student has not been a past winner of a scholarship program administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada

  • Applicants must submit the following documents for consideration by the scholarship selection committee: 
  • Applicant Form
  • Statement of proposed career plan in state and local government finance and proposed plan of graduate study, if applicable
  • Undergraduate and graduate grade transcripts

Internet of Things Scholarship

When the Internet was first launched, you were able to connect to the internet through your computer or server with a LAN line (cable). So, you only had to figure out how to secure one type of device and one type of connection. Today, you can use a LAN line, a Wi-Fi connection, or a WiFi Hotspot to connect to the Internet, and the number of devices with Internet connectivity continues to grow and grow: computer, server, virtual machine, phone, tablet, printer, watch, etc. We want you to think about how internet connectivity has evolved and will evolve to allow these different types of devices to use the internet to help simply and enrich your life. We also want you to think about how you are going to keep all your connected devices secure as the Internet of Things continues to evolve in the Future for both personal and business purposes.

  • Write a 400-600 word essay about how the Internet of Things will affect your future.
